How I Am An Activist This Week

I get this is a slippery slope headed towards blissful ignorance or avoidance. You know I have an allergy to toxic positivity. I am mindfully, stubbornly experiencing joy in direct protest of the misery they want me to experience. I will not despair while they dismantle our rights and harm innocent people. I refuse to let them win by not giving them my attention.

  • Buying banned books. I am making a special effort to collect banned books. And read them if I haven’t already.

  • Volunteering with immigrant justice organizations near me. Here’s links to local organizations in PDX.

  • Joining the library board to aid in the free circulation of books and information.

  • Titrating my social media and news consumption and pausing before reacting.

  • Educating myself with podcasts like Witch Lit and Dan Harris’ Ten Percent Happier.

  • Purposely seeking joy.
